Traditions in relation to the wedding rings

In the customs of most of the countries the wedding ring is worn on the left hand ring finger. It is believed that there is a vein that generates from this finger and goes straight to the heart. Thus the belief is that there is a direct connection of the heart to that finger. Though in actual reality there is no such vein in that finger according to the medical study. Therefore there is no binding that one should wear the wedding ring on that finger only.

Sometimes in case of elaborate weddings it is the custom that a young boy from the family of the bride or groom may assist the bride or the groom as the ring bearer. Thus it is seen that the tradition in relation to the exchange of the wedding rings differs in different cultures and customs. But the fact is that the custom of exchange of rings remains almost the same in almost every customs.
